Fourth Moonen Martinique yacht Cocoon delivered

17 March 2023 • Written by Katia Damborsky

The fourth hull in Moonen's popular semi-custom Martinique series has been delivered. Named Cocoon, the yacht successfully completed sea trials in the North following her launch in December.

The yacht's captain, Kaela Bermeister said: “We got to experience testing conditions, wind and swell on our way from the sea trial area towards Rotterdam."

She added: “During these rocky conditions it’s a great chance to listen for any rattles and creaks that need improving, and generally just be on the lookout for those small details that need adapting before we take over.”

Formerly known as YN201, the 37.8-metre superyacht is currently undertaking her maiden voyage towards Palma di Mallorca, according to BOATPro.

The semi-custom model features a number of major customisations specified by her owners when they purchased the yacht in January 2022.

The most notable example is her length; Cocoon started life as a 36-metre yacht, the same length as her sisterships, but was extended by 1.5 metres in July. She is also the first in the series to feature an anthracite black hull, a fully integrated Z-lift swim platform and an extended sun deck with a total area of 65 square metres.

To create the bespoke interior, the owners turned to the team at Stockholm-based studio Andreas Martin-Löf Arkitekter to fulfil a brief for soothing, Scandinavian-inspired interiors.

Dutch designer René van der Velden has helmed the exterior styling, while naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design. A2B Marine Projects is heading up the owner's team with Christian Poorte as the owner's representative.

Accommodation is for 12 guests and seven crew, with a full-beam owner's cabin and spacious crew quarters. Moonen's commercial director, Victor Caminada, called Cocoon a "special" project.

"In their reaction, we could see that everyone involved in the project has got her absolutely spot on. In fact, she’s even better than the owners imagined. Achieving that level of quality while sticking exactly to schedule is a great testament to everybody involved in the project," he said.

The yacht was rolled out of the shed to receive her extension in July

Cocoon is one of the four projects currently under construction or ordered at Moonen.
