The 50.4-metre Feadship superyacht Emerald has been revealed following an extensive 16-month rebuild at Balk Shipyard.
Formerly known as Legacy, the classic Feadship was relaunched in February 2023 after arriving at the yard in October 2021. She underwent a 2.5-metre extension engineered by Mulder Design, bringing her total LOA to over 50.4 metres, and the yard also administered several other major modifications, including a hull repaint in “orion green” to suit her new name.
Her extra length comes from an extended cockpit and restyled stern with an additional stairway leading from the main deck to the swim platform.
Work also included a complete reconfiguration of the sundeck and an interior remodelling and redesign courtesy of Design Unlimited. Her interior spaces have been revamped with a monochromatic theme, while cabins have been reconfigured to include a forward-facing master suite and a neighbouring VIP suite on the main deck, freeing up space on the lower deck for crew accommodation and amenities alongside four lower deck guest cabins.
Changes were also made to the bridge deck, which is now fitted with a single extendable crane for the launch and recovery of toys and tenders. Newly fitted automatic sliding glass doors connecting the bridge deck aft and upper saloon allow the space to work as a single indoor-outdoor area. And lastly, the sundeck was rebuilt entirely and is now home to a large Jacuzzi forward, a seating area and a bar.
“This was a challenging but extremely rewarding project to turn around in the given time frame,” said Jim Boot, owner’s representative from WMCSuperyachts. “Emerald is an elegant superyacht that will cater to your every need while at sea without fuss or fanfare. I am sure her grace and timeless style will last for many years to come.”
Peter Lassche, refit project manager at Balk Shipyard, added: “It was because of our familiarity with Feadship yachts and our long-standing relationship with the owners that we were chosen to complete this special refit,” says “The hard-working team at Balk are very proud to relaunch the new Emerald after such an intensive project was completed in a short period of time.”
The classic yacht is now on the charter market under the management of TWW Yachts, available from €210,000 per week.
“The owners of Emerald put their trust into TWW Yachts to manage the introduction of their yacht to the charter market,” said David Westwood, TWW Yachts’ managing partner. “Those who appreciate a classic yacht will love how her exterior design has been preserved, while the yacht as a whole has been given many brilliant new features to make life on board unforgettable.”
Other changes during the refit included new teak decking throughout and various technical upgrades, including brand-new navigation, AV/IT and communication systems, as well as two zero-speed Quantum extendable stabilisation fins. Her mast and antenna have both been redesigned to give her a more modern look and feel, as well.
Emerald will go on to appear at the MYBA Charter Show in Barcelona between 24 - 27 April 2023.
