The 44.5-metre motor yacht Costa Magna has arrived at KRM Yacht Refit in Istanbul for a comprehensive rebuild. She is expected to be at the yard for just under a year.
The owner is a repeat client of KRM Yacht, having submitted their Couach 28 Open for a refit in 2013.
Built in 1983 by Turkish shipyard Turquoise, Costa Magna (formerly known as Belesbat Queen) has been the recipient of 10 refits in her lifetime. Her exterior design is by Alberto Mercati and interior design by Vincenzo Ruggiero.
This rebuild will see all 240 square metres of her teak decking replaced; her hull and superstructure stripped, faired, filled and repainted; her upper deck, transom and fly bridge redesigned and rebuilt; her whole interior and crew areas redesigned and modernised.
On the technical side, all navigational equipment will be modernised, the main engines and gensets will be replaced and a new automation system will be installed. The pre-existing forward crane will also be modified to increase its capacity.
“Having embarked on an incredible 40 year worldwide journey, the yacht is now back in Istanbul for a […] full refit,” said the captain of Costa Magna. “We eagerly anticipate seeing Costa Magna restored to her former glory, and we wholeheartedly trust in the expertise and dedication of the KRM Yacht team to achieve this vision.”
KRM managing director Kerem Baser said: "Beyond the boat's rich history, what truly warms our hearts at KRM is the return of a valued client. A decade ago, we made a refit to his previous yacht, and now, after he wanted to change her, he once again chose us without hesitation. This gesture means the world to the KRM family, a testament to our commitment to excellence and dedication."
This announcement follows Just4Us' nine-month stint at KRM, which saw her hull extended by four metres.
