Heesen Yachts
Located in Oss, The Netherlands, Heesen Yachts builds custom superyachts in aluminium and steel from 30 to 70 metres in size.
History of Heesen Yachts
Heesen Yachts was founded by Frans Heesen in 1978, drawing on the rich talent pool of maritime craftsmen and artisans in The Netherlands. The shipyard claims to be the first in Holland to utilize aluminium alloy in constructing yacht hulls. Heesen Yachts has continued to pioneer the use of aluminium to produce seaworthy yet swift performance superyachts.
In 1992, the shipyard added full displacement, steel-hulled motor yachts to its portfolio. In recent years, Heesen Yachts also has developed a series of “Fast Displacement” superyachts, designed to provide higher speeds and greater fuel efficiency than a traditional luxury yacht.
Notable Heesen Yachts
In 2011, Heesen Yachts delivered the 50-metre superyacht Satori, featuring breathtaking contemporary exterior styling by Omega Architects. Constructed entirely in aluminium, and powered by twin MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesel engines, she has a cruising speed of 24 knots. Satori’s interior design is by Remi Tessier.
The 65-metre superyacht Galactica Star was launched by Heesen in 2013. She features an innovative Fast Displacement hull designed by van Oossanen Naval Architects that the shipyard reports is 30 percent more efficient than a traditional superyacht hull of the same size. She combines a 28-knot top speed with a range of 4,200 nautical miles.
