Introducing the Superyachts Book volume 38 by BOAT International

6 December 2024 • Written by Lucy Dunn

The iconic collector’s edition for yachting enthusiasts The Superyachts book is out now. Here is a heads-up about what to look forward to this year.

For nearly four decades, The Superyachts has offered readers an exclusive look inside the world’s most stunning and fascinating yachts, and this year’s edition continues that legacy. Published annually by Boat International Media, the book highlights 20 of the most extraordinary yachts launched in the past year. The latest edition of The Superyachts 38 is on sale now (December 2024.)

Inside this glossy coffee table book, 20 yachts are presented in exquisite detail, with ample space devoted to stunning photography.  The book features many never-before-seen pictures over nearly 500 beautifully laid out pages - and more technical details than you would find in any magazine coverage.

Pushing the envelope is the theme this year: yachts profiled in The Superyachts include the 122-metre Lürssen Kismet, dubbed the 'Cathedral of Design' and the fuel-cell powered pioneer, the 50-metre Sanlorenzo Almax.

Sailing yachts consist of the extraordinary foiling Baltic Yachts' Raven; two groundbreaking Perini Navis, Maltese Falcon and ArtExplorer and the innovative Royal Huisman Nilaya.

Rounding out the lineup of yachts depicted in this year’s edition is Ace, Baglietto T52, Carinthia VII, Infinite Jest, Jester, King Benji, Malia, Milele, Pink Shadow, Renaissance, Sparta, Stellamar, This Is It and Virtuosity.

"I can't recall another crop of yachts that has so successfully stretched the boundaries of what can be achieved by the hugely talented designers, engineers and builders in this industry," says Stewart Campbell, Editor-in-Chief of BOAT International of this year's lineup.

In addition to the yachts themselves, The Superyachts volume 38 features the latest list of the Top 200 largest yachts (by LOA) in the world. This year’s register of largest yachts is updated with more than a dozen new entries, knocking previous contenders off the list.

And that’s not all - the book also includes an alphabetical listing of all of the yachts profiled in each of the previous editions since the very first volume. Meanwhile, the essay this year focuses on the lure of a refit, and how the journey of restoring, repurposing and renewing a yacht "can make the heart sing".

"It would obviously be easier, quicker, and, crucially, cheaper to buy an off-the-shelf yacht," notes Campbell. "But for some owners this would never scratch that irresistible itch to do something truly different."

He concludes: "Here's to extremists. May you keep dreaming, may you keep driving and may you keep stretching those boundaries!"

The Superyachts 38 is out now.
