The best dog friendly superyachts for charter

28 July 2023 • Written by Georgia Boscawen

While a superyacht charter may seem like the perfect escape for the whole family, this often excludes furry family members. For many, holidays are incomplete without your four-legged friend but thankfully, there are several superyachts in the charter fleet that are equipped to handle pets on board, many of which have extra amenities to ensure that your pooch has everything they need while on charter. With a little planning and the right gear, your pet can accompany you almost anywhere in the world on board a superyacht. Here are the best in the fleet that are happy to accommodate them.

Q

Stats: 51.8m, Alloy Yachts, 2008 (2021), 12 guests, 9 crew

Highlights: Originally delivered in 2008 as Mondango II at Alloy Yachts, this Dubois-designed bluewater cruiser is a multi-award-winning ketch-rigged sailing yacht offering outstanding performance excellence and comfort. But this 51.8-metre cruiser has another string to her bow – she’s prepped to accommodate your dog too.

Q's exterior spaces are extensive, with plenty of seating space in the flybridge, a large dining area and a Jacuzzi on the foredeck surrounded by sumptuous sunpads, ideal for your pooch to make their base. Her toy box is brimming with entertainment, from kayaks and water skis to snorkelling gear and inflatables, so there will be plenty of opportunities to spend time out on the water and a chance to teach the dog how to balance on a stand-up paddleboard.

Q is available for charter with Camper and Nicholson’s with a weekly rate from €235,000.

Mes Amis

Stats: 44m, Fitzroy Yachts, 2007 (2021), 10 guests, 6 crew

Highlights: Built by New Zealand’s Fitzroy Yachts in 2007 to an Ed Dubois design, Mes Amis is available for those who want to set sail on an exhilarating vessel. Her warm, contemporary interior by Adam Lay is designed to be elegant, yet inviting, with bright open spaces and plenty of lounge space for your four-legged friend. Accommodation on board is for up to ten guests in four cabins, including a full-width owner’s cabin. Her interiors are bathed in light, thanks to several skylights in the main saloon.

The action on board doesn’t stop when she furls her sails as Mes Amis has an array of toys on board to keep guests entertained in the water including sea bobs, kayaks and SUPs.

Mes Amis is available for charter with Cecil Wright with a weekly rate from $125,000

Katina

Stats: 60m, Brodosplit, 2015 (2021), 12 guests, 15 crew

Highlights: Boasting ample deck spaces and large volumes, Katina is equipped with a range of luxury amenities for every member of the family to enjoy, including the dog. Katina is accustomed to welcoming canine members of the family on board, with her experienced crew having hosted a charismatic Pomeranian for more than a month onboard in previous seasons. For human charter guests, there is a spa centre comprising a gym with state-of-the-art tech, a sauna and a massage room, as well as a deck Jacuzzi, an outdoor cinema and a clubhouse-style whiskey and cigar room with its own ventilation.

No stranger to a serious celebration, Katina can accommodate as many as 150 guests on board and offers an impressive surround-sound system and light show for partying the night away. An RYA-approved water sports centre, Katina is bursting with water toys.

Katina is available for charter with TWW with a weekly charter rate starting from €260,000

Firebird

Stats: 69m, Feadship, 2007, 12 guests, 19 crew

Highlights: With exterior styling and interior design by Michael Leach, Firebird (ex Anna 1) was built in steel and aluminium by Feadship. Her interiors feature polished burr elm and flame mahogany woods, emanating an air of sophistication throughout. Polished marble, dark marquetry and rich fabrics come together to recreate the charm of a distinguished country club, and a dog-friendly one at that. Her interiors may be the epitome of elegance, but the 69-metre is more than happy to accommodate well-behaved dogs on board.

Firebird is available for charter with Y.CO with a weekly rate from €130,000.

Parsifal III

Stats: 53.8m, Perini Navi, 2005 (2023), 12 guests, 9 crew

Highlights: After gaining a starring role in the hit superyacht reality TV show Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Parsifal III will undoubtedly cause a stir in any marina. But this isn’t the only reason why this 53.8-metre sailing yacht is one of the finest charter vessels out there. Her performance – as one of the fastest yachts Perini Navi has built – has her hitting top speeds of up to 16 knots thanks to her high-tech carbon masts and fully automated in-boom furling.

But as well as an exhilarating sailor, Parsifal III is a top choice for families, especially those who like to bring their pets out on the waves. Outdoor entertaining areas are equipped with a hot tub, sunpads, a wet bar, and al fresco lounging and dining with an optional awning and plenty of room for your dog to set up camp. For something a little different, guests can choose to dine on the hydraulic swim platform with the waves gently lapping at their feet. She has a striking interior styled by Rémi Tessier, with dark ebony and light sycamore finishes offering further dining and socialising areas.

Parsifal III is available to charter with Camper & Nicholson's with a weekly rate from €235,000.

Force Blue

Stats: 70.6m, Royal Denship, 2002 (2022), 12 guests, 21 crew

Highlights: Hot on the heels of a 2022 refit, Force Blue is considered something of a masterpiece, especially when it comes to family charter. Capable of hosting up to 60 seated guests and over 300 guests quayside, this 70.6-metre is the perfect high-volume yacht for entertaining. The bridge deck on the Royal Denship is complete with a cocktail bar, professional DJ station and disco lighting – a setup designed for partying the night away. For those that want to bring the whole family on board, including man’s best friend, Force Blue is a great choice for well-behaved pups.

There’s also a sundeck hot tub, a games table in the saloon and an impressive walk-in wine cellar next to the formal dining room to keep two-legged guests entertained. The next day, stunning spa facilities will revive the sore of head, while the plain exhausted can retreat to the cinema while cuddling up to the dog.

Force Blue is available to charter with Fraser with a weekly rate from €360,000.
