After five years of lying dormant, the renaissance of Perini Navi's Picchiotti brand posed a unique challenge for The Italian Sea Group (TISG), which acquired the famed motor yacht builder in December 2021. Retired since 2017, Picchiotti's initial foray back into the yachting industry needed to make a statement – one that would pay homage to its roots while also bringing the brand into the current era.
The result was to create the new Gentleman's Yacht, a classically styled cruiser paired with a modern, chic interior that was introduced in July 2022. One year later, Picchiotti revealed the first renders of an in-build 24-metre model – the smaller end of a range measuring up to 55 metres in length – that is on track for delivery in 2024. Speaking to BOATPro, founder and CEO of TISG Giovanni Costantino sheds light on the genesis of the line, the challenges involved in relaunching Picchiotti and how the brand will develop under the direction of TISG.
