The Italian Sea Group announces Perini Navi collaboration with Malcolm McKeon

3 November 2022 • Written by Katia Damborsky

The Italian Sea Group (TISG) has announced a new collaboration between Perini Navi and Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, starting with the design of a 56 metre ketch.

The ketch will mark the beginning of a new line of Perini Navi sailing yachts designed by Malcolm McKeon ranging from 47 to 74 metres in length.

The full line will be presented in January 2023 and the design aims to maintain the most "iconic stylistic features of the Perini Navi fleet", while adding modern elements and sustainable innovation where possible.

The 56 metre model will have a fluid layout that favours soft lines, wide open spaces and large windows to maximise the connection to the water. A carbon rig and sail plan will work in collaboration with Perini Navi's sail handling system, with sailing manoeuvres concentrated and servo-assisted in the two control stations on the flybridge.

Maltese Falcon is the current Perini Navi flagship, and represents a groundbreaking feat of engineering

The new sailing yacht line design confirms TISG's progress in evolving the Perini Navi brand, which it acquired less than a year ago. "In recent months we have created a technical team highly specialised in the design of sailing yachts that is working hard on the entire Perini Navi production", said Giovanni Costantino, TISG's founder and CEO.

Malcolm McKeon said the designs would "cement a successful future for this iconic name in sailing superyachts." He added: "While retaining some of the most recognisable Perini design features, our collaboration will see the exterior design evolved and elevated, with a fresh internal layout and noteworthy performance to match."

Costantino also hinted at the upcoming presentation of a "new Maltese Falcon" that aims to be as innovative today as the 88 metre Maltese Falcon was when she was launched, with an increased focus on eco-capabilities.
