The Superyacht Life Foundation has announced a new initiative known as World Boating Day.
First launched at the Monaco Yacht Show, the non-profit organisation aims to "educate the wider public on what boating is, how accessible it can be [and] the positive impacts the industry can have." The inaugural event will run from 25-26 May 2024, with 15 builders and one marina having pre-registered.
World Boating Day will encompass "a broad range" of activities, including invite-only events, yard experiences, virtual tours and career days for students. The event will also incorporate online activities.
"[World Boating Day] gives the superyacht industry, in particular, an opportunity to pull back the veil and to show both the human and the positive impact sides of yachting [...] which in turn can help change perceptions of the industry," explained executive director Dilan Saraç.
In the lead-up to the event, The Superyacht Life Foundation will be working with industry bodies and other professional organisations to encourage participation from all levels of the marine leisure industry. This includes shipyards, design studios, production facilities, sailing schools and marinas.
