The 26.2-metre explorer yacht known as Project Pelagos has been successfully delivered following her first round of sea trials in the Solent close to Arksen's facilities in the Isle of Wight. This is the second hull in the shipyard's flagship fleet of Arksen 85 explorers, but was delivered ahead of her sister. According to her AIS, she is now called Mamaluna.
The Arksen 85 is an efficient long-range explorer designed by naval architect Humphrey’s Yacht Design. The yacht features a hull and superstructure constructed from recycled aluminium that can be reused at the end of the vessel’s life.
Project Pelagos features an interior by Design Unlimited, which has been specifically customised to accommodate friends and family. According to the yard, the owner wants to spend time further afield but also plans to use the yacht extensively with family on board in the Mediterranean.
One modification traded the space intended for a snug area for a captain’s cabin, while still allowing for a master suite and three guest cabins. There is also a strong emphasis on al fresco living and dining, including a large open-plan family space on the main deck.
The owner chose to work with Arksen because of the company’s ethos to reduce its impact and give back to the ocean. "Buying into Arksen's unique concept is giving the new generation of these explorer enthusiasts the possibility, not just to visit the last great wilderness of our planet, but also to actively contribute to its protection and regeneration,” said the owner.
"I believe this pioneering and refreshing path that Arksen is taking will make them a driving force in the future of the explorer yacht industry.”
