The 31.7-metre Sanlorenzo motor yacht Elysium has caught fire in Puerto Sotogrande, Spain (16 December). According to BOATPro, the yacht had been in the area undergoing maintenance work since September 2024.
Onsite officials first noticed smoke emanating from Elysium's stern at approximately 6.30pm local time. The authorities were alerted, though local reports claimed the flames spread quickly as a result of strong winds in the area, as well as the fuel on board.

The Guardia Civil and San Roque local police have since evacuated the yard and restricted street access. Restaurants in the area have also been temporarily shut down, as the fire broke out near the Hotel Puerto Sotogrande and surrounding residential area.
The flames were extinguished by 5.00am the following morning (17 December), with no water pollution reported. The extent of damage to Elysium is unknown.
Elysium was delivered in 2010 as the first hull in the Italian yard's SL104 series, which later became known as the SL106.
Her trim, sporty exterior is owed to Francesco Paszkowski, while her "innovative" interior layout was created by renowned architect Rodolfo Dordoni. Highlights include a custom four-cabin layout, a redesigned forward main deck that features a formal dining area and the use of Georgette marble and Minotti fabrics.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
BOAT International will update as the story progresses.
