Velarca 135: Beiderbeck reveals 41m sailing yacht concept in collaboration with Isola Corvus

19 January 2022 • Written by Tom McGhie

German studio Beiderbeck Designs has teamed up with Finnish yachting company Isola Corvus to reveal a 41 metre sailing yacht concept named Velarca 135.

The carbon-fibre concept is aimed at motor yacht owners with amenities, such as a beach club, large swim platform and a voluminous interior, more commonly associated with motor yachts.

The Velarca 135 is fitted with three self-tacking and hydraulically furling jibs - with an upside-down fisherman sail - that can be opened or reefed at the touch of the button for simple sail handling without the need for a "small army" of crew. Under full sail she flies an 850-square-metre sail plan, while the deck below is left free of ropes with jib traveller tracks positioned in the mast.

The yacht’s stand out design feature is a stylish beach club area with a large swim platform. Equipped for safety, the area also features a lift at the bulkhead which “makes all decks and areas safely accessible for everyone”. Forward of the swim platform is a Jacuzzi with a terrace that opens to sea level starboard.

Velarca 135 comes in two different interior layouts, including a “charter optimised layout” which accommodates 12 guests in six cabins. In the “deluxe version”, the addition of a large owner’s cabin reduces the overall number of guests to 10 in a total of five cabins.

The lower deck hosts a large galley equipped with washer dryers and a dumbwaiter which leads to a dining room upstairs on the main deck. Crew accommodation for nine members is found amidships on the lower deck.
