Italian builder AB Yachts has announced the launch of another unit from its 30.5-metre AB100 series, known as hull number 196.
This latest sportfly model from the brand of Viareggio-based shipyard NEXT Yacht Group is said to reach “breathtaking" speeds upwards of 50 knots. According to the shipyard, these speeds can be reached while still enjoying maximum comfort and efficiency, allowing guests “the rush of pure adrenaline in total safety”.
Hull 196 features a distinctive “bold red” hull – evocative of a traditional Formula 1 racing car – that accentuates her sporty yet elegant profile.
The AB100 design ensures constant contact with the sea, with concealed sliding doors connecting the aft cockpit and main saloon for a seamless transition between the interior and exterior of the vessel. There are also 360-degree floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted ocean views and plenty of natural light, complemented by the main saloon's open roof – a standout feature that transforms the space into open-air living at the touch of a button.
Like every AB Yachts model, both the yacht's configuration and interior decoration can be customised to suit the owner's individual needs and taste. For hull 196, this meant a convivial and informal layout welcoming up to 10 guests across four cabins. The separate crew quarters enable the yacht to be supported by up to four crew members.
Unexpected for a sport model is the integrated Jacuzzi found at the bow, complete with awnings to ensure privacy and protection from the weather. Other onboard features include an innovative system designed to easily launch and haul tenders and toys from the aft of the vessel.
According to the yard, the AB100 boasts “unmatched performances in terms of manoeuvrability, lack of vibrations and optimised fuel consumption.” For cruising, the yacht has a low draft of 1.3 metres, enabling easier reach in shallow waters at much faster speeds than other comparable models.
The newest AB100 model joins three other recent launches (an AB80, AB100 and AB120) from AB Yachts, all of which are currently undergoing sea trials in Viareggio. According to BOATPro, the yard has another two yachts still under construction, an AB100 and AB120.
