BOAT International's brand new podcast, BOAT Briefing, launched this week and features an exclusive interview with tennis superstar Rafael Nadal, who spoke to the team from on board his new Sunreef superyacht.
The 19-time Grand Slam champion revealed in the interview how being on his boat was the perfect counterweight to the stress of the pro tour.
“The pressure of competing every single day is high, you can’t hide that,” he said. “When I come back home, I have the chance to go out and spend maybe just one day away from everything without thinking about tennis, just diving and spending the night on board.”
Even this short time away from shore allows Nadal to return to training “with energy and peace”.
“It gives me positive vibes,” he said. “When I am on the ocean, I normally come back with positive energy.”
You can listen to the full interview now through Apple podcasts or on Spotify.
BOAT Briefing is a new podcast that will bring listeners a weekly dose of news and views about the superyacht industry, as well as an exclusive interview each week.
For the first episode, editor-in-chief Stewart Campbell was joined by deputy editor Caroline White and features director Charlotte Hogarth-Jones to discuss everything from the latest America's Cup spying scandal to some of the most impressive new yachts hitting the water.
"We're excited to launch this new podcast, which gives us an opportunity to talk about the world of superyachts in an entirely new way," said Campbell. "To get Rafael Nadal as our first interview was a major coup, and I'd encourage everyone to who loves yachting to listen and subscribe – there is lots more to come."
