10 biggest yacht launches of 2015

Project Omar

Lürssen launched the 156 metre Project Omar in November and she was seen floating out of the shed later this year. The largest superyacht launch of the year, she is reportedly built by Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov. Project Omar is the largest yacht currently in build and will be the fourth largest yacht in the world when she is delivered in 2016.

Sailing Yacht A

142.80m, Nobiskrug

One of the most striking and divisive yacht launches ever, Sailing Yacht A is definitely the most covered launch of 2015. The boundary pushing, sail-assisted motor yacht was photographed on sea trials in October, a month after her giant masts had been installed. Delivery to her owner Andrey Melnichenko is expected in 2016.

Golden Odyssey

Lürssen's second entry in this top 10, the highly secretive Project Tatiana, was launched in March and then spotted heading out for sea trials in May. She was then seen on the quayside at Lemwerder in July, where her name became known to the world as Golden Odyssey.

Ulysses

107.00m, Kleven

The 107 metre explorer yacht is the first yacht to be built by Norwegian ship-builder Kleven. The yacht was commissioned by New Zealand businessman Graeme Hart in March 2013.  Ulysses was moved from Norway to Germany in August for its final outfitting. The work is nearly completed and delivery is expected in early 2016.

Symphony

101.50m, Feadship

Formerly known as Project 808,  Symphony is the largest yacht to be built by  Feadship. She was launched in January 2015 in the Netherlands._ Sea trials took place in the Spring and then after _she was delivered in May,  she headed straight for a summer in the Mediterranean.

Lady Lara

Lady Lara hit the water in September 2013 for her technical launch, before an extensive fit out took place ready for sea trials in July 2015. Following a  November delivery, Lady Lara was seen on her way to Norway for her maiden voyage, before heading to the Caribbean for the winter.

The much anticipated collaboration between Oceanco and Vitters was launched in May. Aquijo is one of the largest sailing yachts in the world and marks new territory for Oceanco, who is known for building large custom motor yachts. They received specialist input on the construction of sailing yachts from Vitters to help create a superyacht that is  as nimble as a smaller yacht.
