Few people are pleased when the end of their superyacht charter draws near, but I once had a guest on my yacht who took things to the next level. When the time to disembark drew near, I received a worried phone call from my captain. One woman, he reported, was so keen to stay on that she’d locked herself in one of the heads and was refusing to come out. 

No amount of coaxing from the crew could persuade her to open the door! “What should I do?” he asked me, “we’ve tried for hours – and the next group of guests is arriving really soon!” Well, dear reader, there was simply no choice. To paraphrase Michael Caine’s character in The Italian Job, we had to blow the bloody doors off…
