58m Royal Huisman sloop Ngoni rejoins market

15 January 2025 • Written by Lucy Dunn

The 58.2-metre Royal Huisman sailing yacht Ngoni has rejoined the market, with Carrswood Yachts acting as her central agent.

Delivered in 2017 by Dutch yard Royal Huisman, with exterior and naval architecture conceived by Dubois Naval Architects, Ngoni comes with considerable pedigree as she was the last superyacht design penned by the late great Ed Dubois.

Ngoni is asking €38,500,000 ex VAT

Ngoni is credited as one of the world's most innovative sailing yachts ever built. She is widely known as the "Beast" thanks to her owner, who demanded that the designers push the envelope: "Don’t build me a wolf in sheep’s clothing," he is reported to have said. "This has to be an edgy and innovative weapon; fast and furious".

Ngoni's modern, organic and curved interiors, designed to echo the yacht's lines, are by British designers Rick Baker. Her ceiling panels, sofas, blinds and curtains are by Zijlstra, with furniture, wall panels, headboards and leather work by Cools Upholstery and special wall panels commissioned by Officina Coppola, an English company specialising in custom finishes and art panels of resin, metal and limestone.

The deck saloon is laid out to incorporate informal seating and a pop-up television to port, with formal dining to starboard and a seated bar –  all affording superb visibility and comfort.

As part of a 2024 refit which saw the original gym removed and replaced with a twin berth cabin with adjoining bathroom (pictured below), Ngoni now sleeps eight guests in four large en suite cabins with a sumptuous owner’s master suite aft. In addition, a single berth sofa bed was created in the owner's office. The yacht for sale also caters for nine crew over six cabins, complete with en suite bathrooms.

Powered by an impressive 71-metre carbon sloop rig – one of the three largest one-piece spars ever built by Rondal – and paired with the latest North Sails square-top mainsail, Ngoni's clean, uncluttered exterior prioritises performance and aerodynamic efficiency.

Since the owner was passionate about helming, he demanded steering was light yet firm and highly responsive, providing an authentic feel of the yacht under sail.

The Dubois office designed an extraordinary custom boom, featuring a nearly four-metre aft extension that seamlessly follows the yacht's stern profile, achieving remarkable visual symmetry.

Dubois crafted the hull with a striking reverse sheer from the bow to the midpoint of the deckhouse, transitioning into a gentle concave sheer towards the aft and curving again over the beach deck. The plumb bow was elegantly radiused at the top and bottom, while the innovative full-glass deckhouse featured dramatic, extreme curves. Inside, Ngoni's interior incorporates fascinating artwork, bespoke furniture and exotic finishes.

Beneath Ngoni’s flush deck and hull lies a host of ingenious features, including a massive foredeck tender garage housing a 5.6-metre jet tender, a dedicated launch crane, an all-carbon Jacuzzi spa and a fold-out side boarding platform with a beach.

One the highlights of the yacht’s exterior is her elegant beach deck aft, featuring a sweeping staircase descending to sea level and a sculpted teak horseshoe sunlounging area – perfect for enjoying the day’s adventures.

Under her MTU 8V2000M72 engine, the 296GT yacht for sale has a maximum speed of 17 knots.
