The 39.08 metre Benetti motor yacht El Caran, once owned by the legendary singer-songwriter David Bowie, has been listed for sale by Giulio Riggio at Fraser's Palma office.
El Caran was built in steel and aluminium by Italian yard Benetti to RINA class and delivered in 1977. Formerly known as Deneb Star, she was penned inside and out by the yard and has received several refits, most recently in 2020 where she benefitted from a paint job and a brand new teak deck.
The classic interior on board this yacht for sale is finished in mahogany and she hosts 12 guests in six cabins including a full-beam master suite on the main deck. Below, there is a full-beam VIP stateroom and three sumptuous twin cabins. All cabins have television screens, DVD players and en suite bathrooms with bathtubs. Seven crew members find accommodation in five cabins.
Telltale signs of Bowie's artistic influence are visible in certain interior elements, including the surrealist painting that hangs over the dining table and retro-styled furniture in the guest cabins.
The main deck dining area of this yacht for sale is open to the main saloon and she has a bright and airy sky lounge and a great sundeck. Al fresco dining is for 10 guests on the aft deck and the bridge deck behind the sky lounge.
Her exterior spaces host plenty of socialising areas, alongside sun lounging space and in-built seating on the foredeck with shelter provided by a Bimini top. The upper deck offers further seating alongside panoramic views of the ocean.
She is maintained to RINA commercial class and has been successfully chartering in the Mediterranean for many summers, with significant repeat business. Twin 824hp MTU engines give her a range of 3,800 nautical miles and a top speed of 12 knots.
El Caran is asking €4,850,000 with VAT paid.
