The 55.3-metre Damen Yachting support vessel Axis, listed for sale with Charles Carveles and Alex Dineen of Edmiston, has received a considerable $1,500,000 price drop.
Designed "for the true explorer" by Damen Yachting, the hull and superstructure are built of steel – with a "robust and commanding" profile including an axe bow. The contemporary interior design is by Patrick Dupuis, while Damen was responsible for the naval architecture. Her Triton 3300/3 deep-sea submersible is available for purchase separately.
As well as a submarine garage, Axis has a dedicated hangar for a helicopter, her expansive deck space allowing for a 3,700-kilogram helicopter load. The Heila crane, for launching tenders, submersibles and toys, carries up to 16 tonnes. The main deck can be cleared to form an entertaining or a large sunbathing space.
The on-deck galley with barbecue is protected by an overhang and drop-down canvas. It leads through to the main saloon with lounge space, TV and sit-up bar, connected to the internal galley. Up on the bridge deck, aft of the wheelhouse, there is an external "sky deck" with panoramic views where guests can take al fresco meals.
Accommodation is provided for "six plus two" guests across three cabins on the main deck, including two Queen doubles with Pullman berths and one four-berth cabin. There are quarters for a crew of up to 11 in four cabins.
The 462GT explorer yacht for sale – delivered in 2016 – is powered by four 1,499hp Caterpillar diesel engines giving her a top speed of 20 knots, a comfortable cruising speed of 12 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles. The broker pointed out that Axis has a relatively shallow draught of 3.6 metres, making her perfect for Bahamas cruising, as well as Quantum Marine stabilisers for comfort.
Axis is now asking $16,000,000 and is currently lying in Fort Pierce, US.
