The 25.3 metre cutter-rigged sailing yacht Mustang has been listed for sale with Ann Avery of Northrop & Johnson. She was built of GRP in the UK by Camper & Nicholsons in 1987 to designs by Doug Peterson and is essentially an extended version of his Ocean 80 hull. Mustang has four circumnavigations under her keel and is built to withstand rough seas and inclement weather with major refits between 2018 and 2022.
Mustang sleeps six guests and three crew, yet she can easily be sailed by two good sailors. From the cockpit, a door leads to the raised pilothouse/deck saloon with 360-degree views. To starboard is the navigation area; instruments can be hidden when the space is being used as a deck saloon. To port is an L-shaped settee and a low table. Stairs lead to the lower saloon which has a large dining table to port and a cocktail table with a curved sofa and a bar.
Guest accommodation comprises a full-beam master stateroom with a centreline queen-size bed, a port guest double cabin and a starboard cabin with twin beds.
On deck the yacht for sale boasts an enormous cockpit with a centre cockpit table that extends for al fresco dining. Cushioned seating and a bimini, with side closures, ensure comfort in all climates. Full operational control of the yacht from the enclosed pilot house provides security and safety while cruising in inclement weather or rough seas, while the outside helm station allows for one-person control of the helm, sail furlers and primary sail trim.
Some $2 million was invested from 2018 to 2022 with upgrades of her exterior and interior, including new paint, new standing and running rigging, new sails, new teak decks, a re-built engine, two new generators, new interior furnishings and more. The Cummins engine, in the walk-in engine room, provides a cruising speed of 8.5 knots and a maximum of 9.5 knots.
Mustang is asking $1,495,000.
