Itinerary
Chilean Patagonia
Captain Michael Douglas designs a route to show off the grandeur of Patagonia's scenery as part of 81-metre Sea Eagle's epic world tour
Meet Sea Eagle in Caleta Porcelana, a cove in Los Lagos that’s overlooked by epic mountain ranges. After lunch on board, jump straight into the action and spend the afternoon kayaking, rafting and paddleboarding the surrounding waters. In the evening, the crew will whisk you to the steaming hot springs to watch dusk draw in.

As dawn breaks, Sea Eagle will cruise along the magnificent fjord for 42 nautical miles to Isla Mechuque, which is famed for its bright stilt houses and historical seafood-canning industry. Spend the day exploring the museums on this sequestered isle, which thrived in the 1900s. In the evening, enjoy dinner in view of the mountains before an overnight cruise.

Awake as Sea Eagle cruises into the Pumalín National Park on the mainland, famed for its striking blue waters and snow-capped peaks. Spend the morning out in the kayaks, before the crew set up lunch on the banks of the Blanco River among some of the last Alerce trees in the world. In the afternoon, go hiking, fly-fishing or horse riding across the dramatic terrain.

Heading away from the mainland once more, sail 43 nautical miles south-west to the small island of Isla Cailin, arriving just after lunch. It's famed for the wildlife in its surrounding waters, with whales, dolphins and sea otters. There is another chance to go fishing and admire the flora and fauna that give colour to the forests.

Next Sea Eagle will head south towards Melinka through the winding channels of the archipelago. When approaching Isla Gran Guaiteca, which lies 40 nautical miles away, keep a lookout for humpback whales, penguins, dolphins and sea lions. Once here, bask in the grandeur of the landscape with cocktails on deck before nightfall.

Following an overnight cruise, awake in the small fishing village of Puyuhuapi, gateway to the Queulat National Park. Spend the morning walking to the steamy thermal baths, where the crew will meet you with a glass of champagne. In the afternoon, continue to the volcanic caves before returning to Sea Eagle for an evening gazing up at the stars.

For your final day on board, arrive at Puerto Chacabuco, one of Patagonia’s larger ports that remains remarkably untouched. In the morning, take the tender to San Rafael Glacier – one of the most dynamic in the region – and see chunks of ice crash into the lagoon below. In the afternoon head back to the town and explore the shops to pick up trinkets before the crew sees you off the yacht to the airport.
