Hawaii

For the couple who enjoys outdoor activities

If lying on a beach for two weeks isn't your idea of a honeymoon to remember, an action-packed trip to Hawaii might be more your style. Head to Waipi'o Valley on the big island for a romantic horse riding tour and discover cascading waterfalls, lush green cliffs and the iconic black sand beach, where you can enjoy a lavish picnic – look out for hawksbill and green turtles sunbathing in the afternoons.

Thrillseekers can opt for a helicopter trip over Kīlauea Volcano. It's the most active in the world and you can watch lava cascade over the cliffside as steam emanates from the ocean waves below. This, followed by a breathtaking sunset, makes for an extremely memorable trip.

Though the big island is well-equipped to entertain daredevils and nature-lovers, excursions to the other islands are a must. Head to Kaua'i island and trek to the Opaeka'a Falls for a swim surrounded by mountains and rainforests, or arrange a trip to Lāna'i, to visit Pu'u Pehe, otherwise known as 'Sweetheart Rock'.

Unwind back on the big island with a trip to the Four Seasons spa for a couples massage or simply stroll to Hapuna Beach with a bottle of bubbly to watch the extraordinary sunset.

There are a number of anchorages around Hawaii and yachts such as 87.78 metre Musashi and 119 metre Motor Yacht A have visited in recent years.

For those in search of a hidden paradise

Hidden in the pristine waters of St Vincent and the Grenadines, the island of Bequia is like stepping back in time into old school Caribbean charm. Its shores are untouched by the mass developments seen on most other islands, goats, chickens and dogs still wander the streets and its beaches are among the most pristine in the Caribbean.

There are a host of activities to be enjoyed from diving trips (The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dived here when they visited nearby Mustique) to picnics on Spring Top, which offers stunning views across the surrounding islands. In the island’s main village of Port Elizabeth there are host of quirky restaurants – including Tommy’s that serves delicious lobster pizza. Or you can venture to Jack’s Beach Bar at St Margret’s Beach for an afternoon of drinking cocktails in the sun.

If you are looking for romantic hideaway on this charming island, then head to Bequia Beach Hotel. The colonial styled property is packed with retro touches – including vintage suitcases and a hot air balloon basket as the reception desk – and has its own private stretch of perfectly white sand. It also offers a spa, for some post-wedding relaxation, and two restaurants.

For the ultimate escape, the hotel offers the use of its own superyacht – 34.5 metre Star of the Sea – to explore the surrounding islands. Plans are also underway to build a jetty that can accommodate private yachts up to 50 metres. Until then if you want to visit by superyacht you can moor out in Port Elizabeth and tender into the buzzing village.

Mamanuca Islands, Fiji

For the couple looking for natural beauty

The Mamanuca Group is a volcanic archipelago of 20 idyllic islands near Denarau, which are home to some of the most exclusive resorts perfect for couples on their honeymoon.

The coral reefs surrounding the islands are a kaleidoscope of sea life, making this the perfect spot for snorkelling and diving. There are a number of wreck dives to explore, including a popular American bomber plane. Divers can expect to see turtles, sharks and manta rays, as well as a huge array of corals and fish.

Couples are spoilt for choice when it comes to adult-only resorts. The Royal Davui Island Resort offers three packages tailored for honeymooners — Romance, which includes a sandy cay picnic and a couples massage, Adventure, which offers a picnic, fishing trip and scuba diving course, and Indulgence, which includes a choice of daily treatments at the Davui Spa such as body scrubs, facials and beauty treatments. Additionally, it's one of the best private islands to rent around the world.

Alternatively, The Likuliku Lagoon offers luxurious over-water bure accommodation, perfect for those who can't get enough of the beautiful scenery — peer off the edge of your private deck to look out for tropical fish while enjoying a cocktail and the complimentary canapés that are delivered daily.

Vessels up to 75 metres can moor in Port Denarau Marina on the main island of Fiji. There are also a number of secluded anchorages around the islands from which guests can tender to shore.

Capri, Italy

For the couple that wants a European hideaway

As well as all the hustle and bustle of a traditional Italian town, Capri offers the perfect honeymoon getaway. Anchor your luxury yacht at Marina Piccola, one of the best superyacht anchorages on the Amalfi coast, before going for a drive through the charming island town.

Grotto Azzurra (The Blue Grotto) is not to be missed — row through this stunning sea cave in the north western coastline on a private boat or go for a swim in the early evening after the boat tours have finished.

Tucked away on the eastern end of the south coast is the secluded Punta Tragara Hotel — winner of the 2016 World Boutique Hotel Award "Best Honeymoon Hideaway", it offers three eateries with astonishing views out to sea and over to Marina Piccola in addition to a luxurious spa with a range of restorative treatments, including a couples massage.

Borneo

For the couple looking to walk on the wild side

Last year superyachts were given the green light to visit Borneo, as North Borneo, East Coast Borneo and the South Philippines were declared “safe and peaceful”. The Lloyds Joint War Committee removed these regions as War Listed Areas meaning that it is now no longer necessary to acquire special permission to visit the region.

Perfect for a couple that love nature the region offers some incredible wildlife experiences both underwater and on land. Take a boat safari on the Kinabatangan River and spot orangutan, pigmy elephants and monkeys or swim with turtles in the waters off Sipadan. Complete your trip with a couple of nights on dry land in one of Borneo’s stunning rainforest lodges.

Borneo is one of most adventurous destinations to visit by superyacht and could provide an unforgettable experience.

For the couple that wants to get away from it all

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge's honeymoon destination of choice, the Seychelles, offers a secluded tropical paradise.

With more than 100 small islands to explore and breath-taking beaches with crystal clear seas, the Seychelles present newlyweds with a refreshing opportunity to escape crowded and commercialised destinations.

The islands are also home to two UNESCO world heritage sites — Aldabra Atoll and Vallée de Mai. Aldabra Atoll is comprised of four large coral islands which enclose a shallow lagoon and is home to more than 150,000 giant tortoises.

Although boating facilities in the Seychelles are fairly limited, as long as you have a well-stocked luxury yacht you will be able to find plenty of romantic, secluded bays in which to anchor.

For the couple that wants complete privacy

With little major development,  St Vincent and the Grenadines are the perfect destination for a secluded honeymoon on a superyacht.

The 32-island chain offers unspoilt reefs with deserted white sand beaches that are calling to be explored by superyacht. Rather than the busy hubbub of a marina, newlyweds can spend their evenings in complete privacy under a canopy of stars.

St Vincent has lush rainforests and an active volcano, La Soufriere, which can be hiked. This Caribbean destination offers something for everyone from the tiny island of Bequia to the celebrity-packed island of Mustique.
