British shipyard Sunseeker International has confirmed that, following an investigation by the UK's Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), the company has been fined £358,000 for importing Myanmar teak in violation of the Timber and Timber Products Regulations (UKTR).
The case, which was heard at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 22 November, is understood to be the first prosecution under the UKTR, which replaced the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) following Brexit.
