What to wear to the Monaco Yacht Show: Women's style guide

11 August 2015 • Written by Zoe Dickens

The Monaco Yacht Show is one of the most important events in the superyacht calendar so if you're hoping to do serious business at the next instalment you'll need to look the part. Whether you're in the market and are planning to view many of the superyachts for sale or are simply going to enjoy the social scene, our edit of the best looks for day, dinner and party has every eventuality covered.

Day

Comfort is key to your Monaco Yacht Show day look

A day spent at the Monaco Yacht Show invariably includes a lot of walking and hopping between the must-see new yachts so practicality is key when it comes to getting ready. Opt for a lightweight, loose T-shirt dress with a little feminine flair - Mother of Pearl's embellished version is just right - and wear with your favourite brown or navy leather boat shoes. Choose a versatile tote bag big enough for all your essentials - which in this case should certainly include a pair of classic tortoiseshell sunglasses and an unstructured jacket to protect against the sea breeze. Finish with Cartier's timeless Tank watch for effortless chic.

Wicklow crystal-embellished dress, £648, Mother of Pearl at Matches Fashion; Silk-trimmed wool blazer, £1,220, Gucci; Roxette calf tote, £1,100, Mulberry at Harrods; Mande Cocobolo sunglasses, £224, Oliver Peoples at Pret a Voir; Tank Anglaise yellow gold and leather watch, £7,650, Cartier

Dinner

Channel your inner Grace for elegant dinners

Whether a formal function or private gathering, a dinner at the Monaco Yacht Show should always be an elegant affair. Channel your inner Princess Grace in Roksanda's stunning pink midi skirt paired with a simple polo neck T-shirt and Christian Louboutin's vintage-inspired black suede pumps. Accessorise with Dior's subtle yet utterly beautiful Grande Bal Plisse Soleil watch and add a little wit via Edie Parker's bespoke clutch bag.

Textured wool and silk-blend midi skirt, £1,640, Roksanda at Matches Fashion; Malaika polo neck top, £310, The Row at My Theresa; Riri 100 suede pumps, £665, Christian Louboutin; Bespoke clutch bag, £1,150, Edie Parker; Dior VIII Grand Bal Plisse Soleil watch, £33,700, Dior

Party

Add a little colour for party time

Cocktail parties at the Monaco Yacht Show are a great place to network and meet new people so be sure to choose an outfit with impact and personality. Start with a black jumpsuit - instead of the ubiquitous LBD - and use it as a blank slate on which to add pops of colour. Temperley London's embroidered kimono makes a statement without being over the top and these espadrilles from the Dolce & Gabbana Portofino collection are a brilliant and practical alternative to your usual heels. Keep jewellery pared back - a classic palette of black, gold and white diamond is the perfect foil to all that colour.

Black wool jumpsuit, £1,180, Nina Ricci at Harvey Nichols; Baudelaire embroidered silk kimono, £1,195, Temperley London at Net-a-Porter; Portofino printed brocade espadrilles, £255, Dolce & Gabbana at Net-A-Porter; Mademoiselle Prive Camelia yellow gold and diamond watch, POA, Chanel; Apple seed diamond earrings, £1,400, Bee Goddess at Harrods
