BOAT International is delighted to announce that it has collaborated with financial management software Voly Group to launch the new Barcelona Golf Invitational. Taking place on 15-16 May 2024, the event will bring together esteemed yacht owners and captains, as well as other industry professionals, for a golf tournament at one of Spain’s premier golf courses – Camiral Golf & Wellness.
Home to the Spanish Open on three occasions, Camiral Golf & Wellness offers two top-ranking golf courses, both of which feature in Golf Digest's Top 10 Best Golf Courses in Spain - Stadium Course takes second place and Tour Course takes eighth. The 18-hole Barcelona Golf Invitational will take place on the Stadium Course, which has been home to many PGA European golf events.
“It is an honour to be co-hosting the first ever BOAT and Voly Group Golf Invitational in Barcelona this year,” said Ian Flanagan, CEO of Voly Group. “The aim of the event is to raise money for a number of worthwhile charities by bringing together owners, captains, crew and friends of the yachting industry for a premium and relaxed tournament joined by European Tour golfers at one of the best golf courses in Spain.”
BOAT International and Voly Group are delighted to announce that professional Scottish golfer Ewen Ferguson, a two-time DP World Tour Champion, will participate in the event. This unique opportunity allows attendees to meet and play alongside a seasoned pro. Guests will also have the chance to engage in friendly competition with Ferguson in events such as The Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin and other golf challenges.
"I am honoured to take part in the first-ever Golf Invitational presented by BOAT and Voly Group this year. I have been working with Voly as an ambassador through my management firm Modest Golf Management, so I am delighted to be involved in the event," says Ferguson. "What I really appreciate is how they bring together business and sports. Knowing Ian, and the strong relationship he has with BOAT, I am sure this is going to be a fun event."
“How often can you say you have played golf with a professional two-time European Tour Championship golfer? This is an opportunity to play against one of the most exciting prospects in the golf world whilst raising money for some amazing charities," Flanagan added.
The occasion provides an excellent chance for yacht owners and captains to convene and socialise. In addition to the golf tournament, attendees can look forward to an exciting social agenda featuring a welcome cocktail reception, lunch and an evening barbecue, prize-giving and after-party.
“This one-of-a-kind event to kick off the Mediterranean yachting season is a must for golfing enthusiasts,” Flanagan explained. “We welcome companies and individuals who would like to take part to get in touch. As always, we have a number of surprises in the making, including music and entertainment. So, watch this space!”
"I don’t often play against the likes of owners, captains, crew or yacht management companies, so I am looking forward to bringing a competitive edge to the event," Ferguson added. " I look forward to seeing you all on the Par 3 challenge!"
Tickets for the Barcelona Golf Invitational 2024 are currently available to purchase on the BOAT International website. The event caters to golfers of all skill levels, and for those interested solely in the social aspects, there is also the option to buy a Social Only ticket, allowing attendance at the social events without participating in the golf tournament.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Voly Group on our first owners and captains Golf Invitational in Barcelona this summer,” said Toby Moore, CEO of BOAT International. “The event offers the perfect opportunity for key players in the industry to come together and socialise over a friendly tournament of golf. We look forward to working with Voly to put on a truly fantastic event and sharing Voly’s invaluable financial resource with the wider superyacht industry.”
