In review: The best, brand-new charter yachts of 2023

Stats: 49.9m, Benetti, 2023, 12 guests, 10 crew

The third hull from Benetti's B.Now 50M series, Fantasea has a slim and sporty RWD exterior shared by sisterships Iryna and Jacozami.

The yacht's key selling point is her 36-square-metre beach club which comprises a steam room and "sea saloon" with lounging and entertainment options, plus direct access to the water through an unfolding shell door that forms an overwater balcony to starboard.

Kitted out with water fun in mind, Fantasea features an inflatable docking station for Jet Skis as well as plenty of other gadgets and toys. An aft deck infinity pool is the focal point of her stern, while a Jacuzzi adjoins a gym set-up on the sun deck.

Designed by Espen Øino, Fortuna's winning feature is her "very rare and very large" sundeck, according to the broker. Up top, a waterfall cascades down from the hardtop into the Jacuzzi pool. There's also a teppanyaki grill, barbecue, shaded dining table, DJ console and plenty of space for dancing. A spacious seating area is found forward while four daybeds are arranged astern – all benefitting from swathes of sunshine. 

Another level up, the sky lounge delivers far-flung views and widescreen entertainment with its balcony terrace and 83-inch television screen. It also benefits from a "good-sized" gym, sit-up bar, outdoor lounge and large, al fresco dining area. 

Fortuna's garage is well-stocked, including an eFoil, four tenders (one towed) and two Waverunners. There's also a collection of snorkelling gear and an "anti-jellyfish pool" (in case any coral explorations go awry).

Lady Jorgia (ex. Ahpo) made waves when she left the shipyard at Lürssen with her striking duo-tone exterior and half-moon windows. The 115.1-metre superyacht hit the headlines earlier this year when she was sold in what was believed to be the biggest brokerage deal in history. 

If her commercial helipad and world-class gym aren't enough to tempt you on board, perhaps the yacht's two-storey owner's suite or eight-metre swimming pool might. Wellness is at the heart of a charter on board Ahpo  seen in her nature-themed spa, complete with a massage room, Himalayan salt sauna and a Turkish-style hammam finished in vibrant mosaics and ivory onyx. 

Nature is another theme that continues throughout the vessel, seen in the choice of artwork, the central staircase (which depicts an olive tree) and the grand dining room, which is themed around water lilies. She also has a full-time crew of 36, on hand to ensure that every whim is catered to.

Alpha Waves belongs to Benetti's Oasis series and sports an award-winning exterior from the drawing boards of RWD. Fully wheelchair friendly (including her tender and flat boats), highlights include contemporary-chic interiors by New York's Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture, a dedicated gym and wellness area and a main deck owner's cabin with private sitting area and outdoor balcony.

Her beach club boasts fold-down terraces that sit on the water and an infinity Jacuzzi, while a second Jacuzzi can be found on the sundeck, arranged with sunpads and an adjacent al fresco dining area. An elevator can be accessed from the main saloon to the sundeck.

Stats: 77m, Golden Yachts, 2023, 12 guests

Launched in May, O’Rea sports a striking design penned by long-time collaborator Stefano Vafiadis. Her contemporary plumb bow and trapezium-shaped windows allow her to stand out from previous models O'Pari and O'Ptasia.

On board, eight guest cabins can comfortably accommodate 12 guests, including a large owner's cabin with an adjoining private office. According to interior stylist Massari Design, there are 250 finishes in O'Rea, including precious stones and polished, champagne-coloured metal. The yacht also benefits from a beach club which is home to a Finnish sauna, Turkish hammam and massage room for unbeatable relaxation on board.

The sixth hull from Sanlorenzo’s successful Alloy series, AIX is intrinsically unique having been designed specifically for charter in Australia. Spending her inaugural season on the east coast, between Sydney and Queensland, the 44-metre yacht is destined to offer something new to the land down under. 

Guests on board will be accommodated in the four cabins on the lower deck, where large rectangular windows mean that light floods in even when the yacht is berthed between two vessels. But the most impressive space on board is undoubtedly the master, which is split across three levels.

Thanks to its well-stocked toy box, there is never a dull moment on board AIX, with stand-up paddle boards and Jet Skis to choose from. There are also 16 dive tanks on board, along with every bit of diving equipment one would expect to explore the depths.

Following in the footsteps of her successful sistership Bold, the 85-metre Wanderlust is one of the most highly anticipated and exciting vessels to arrive on the charter market. Instantly recognisable thanks to her Espen Øino exterior, Wanderlust is one of this year's biggest head-turners.

Built to deliver the holiday of a lifetime, her exterior spaces are peppered with amenities including a glass-fronted Jacuzzi, bar, outdoor cinema, games table and light systems for discos on deck. A key element of the Wanderlust's design is a winter garden loft area which sits on the upper deck. Privacy glass can be closed off or left open to create a multi-seasonal area that can be adapted to suit different weather conditions.

The first in a new generation of Limited Editions models, Come Together comes from the boards of lauded superyacht designer Espen Øino and is packed with every amenity you could wish for.

Days spent on Come Together start and finish on the sundeck, which stretches almost half of the yacht's entire length. An outdoor cooking station with a teppanyaki grill brings the family together for al fresco lunches, where guests are more than welcome thanks to an extendable dining table that seats up to 18 guests. A bar and Jacuzzi offer the perfect set-up for lazy afternoons, and when the sun sets, the space can be transformed into a cinema under the stars.

Come Together can sleep up to 12 guests across six beachy staterooms, including an oversized owner's suite with a folding terrace for quiet coffees, a main deck "Madame" suite and four additional guest cabins on the lower deck each with direct access to the beach club. Morning swim anyone?

As the largest yacht ever to be built in Poland, the brand new 44-metre, 494GT Ace was an exciting addition to the charter fleet this year. Her striking exterior is from the boards of British studio Reymond Langton in collaboration with Dutch-based Diana Yacht Design.

Her interiors (the work of Milan-based firm M2 Atelier) are based on a “less is enough'' philosophy according to the studio. Only a select few materials were chosen including teak wood, Lasa marble, grey leather, light-coloured fabrics and dark metal accents.

Ace has four "lounge zones" on board – a cinema, two bars, two dining spaces and an infinity pool on the sun deck. A transverse garage can hold a seven-metre tender alongside two Jet Skis and Sea Bobs.

Designed with nature at the forefront, Kenshō's exteriors and interiors emulate the natural world with curved lines. Views out to the water are also the priority, meant to be enjoyed from almost every angle – particularly in the panoramic main saloon with its floor-to-ceiling windows.

Each of the decks is connected by a statement central staircase and elevator, with her Jouin Manku interiors finished with warm wood panelling and design touches inspired by Asian mythology.

Outdoors, a spectacular sundeck offers a glass-fronted Jacuzzi and cocktail bar, with glass windbreak doors that can close off the area to the elements without disrupting the vistas. Closer to the water, a swimming deck with direct access to the sea is topped off with a six-metre pool, workout space and lounge area. Further entertainment is offered in the form of a well-stocked toy box, filled with Jet Skis, inflatables, e-Foils and mountain bikes for onshore exploration.
