6 ways Giaola-Lu by Bilgin Yachts shows her star quality

One of the most distinctive debuts at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, Giaola-Lu was launched by Turkish yard Bilgin Yachts earlier this year measuring 46.8 metres LOA and handed over to her Mexican owner in July.

Her star quality can be seen both inside and out, but the first thing you will notice is the striking exterior shape, which was created by British studio H2 Yacht Design. Elegant lines flow across all three decks and draw the eye to her plumb bow, fulfilling the owner’s brief for a “modern, clean and timeless” look.

Bilgin Yachts has a long and storied history of building yachts from cold molded timber, and although Giaola-Lu is built from steel and aluminium, the woodwork on board shows off the yard’s skills in fine joinery.

American walnut, satin wenge, cedar, teak, Anatolian walnut, and matt olive veneers were all used to create the warming feel that runs throughout this Turkish superyacht. A great example of this is the owner’s office (pictured above), which features curved and angled walnut wall panels and indirect LED lighting. This area can also double up as an on-board cinema room when needed.

For the audio-visual system on board Giaola-Lu, Bilgin teamed up with Savant Automation Systems to fill the yacht with smart technology. As a result, guests can use the dedicated Savant app to control everything from lighting and air conditioning to the curtains and the electronically rising televisions.

A grand total of 14 television screens can be found on board, so you can watch your favourite movies or satellite TV anywhere from your cabin to the sun deck or even the superyacht’s beach club (pictured above).

The owner of Giaola-Lu was keen for the yacht to place a strong emphasis on outdoor living, and the superyacht spa pool is at the centre of this — its glass front creates a sense of flow between this area and the central bar.

With guests likely to spend so much time on the sun deck, the audio visual system up here was tailored to meet this demand. A pair of waterproof 65-inch screens by Aqualite are connected to the Funktion One stereo speaker system, which can produce crisp and clear sound even when Giaola-Lu is cruising along at her top speed of 16 knots.

When stepping on board Giaola-Lu, the welcoming atmosphere of the H2 Yacht Design interior décor is immediately apparent. The main lounge was designed to create a cosy and contemporary feel, with nubuck, shagreen and natural leathers complimenting the extensive use of precious stonework, such as white onyx, cream travertine and eramosa.

Bilgin Yachts worked with a number of premium yacht interior design brands to fit out Giaola-Lu in a way that reflected her star quality. The removable aft deck umbrellas were created by Tuuci of Miami, while the loose exterior furniture was made by the likes of Minotti, Paola Lenti, Summit Furniture and Manutti.
