10 of the best yacht concepts at Monaco Yacht Show 2016

Dart 65

Every kind of yacht imaginable will be represented at the Monaco Yacht Show, from the must-see new yachts of 2016 to the top yachts for sale at MYS.

But what about the yachts of the future? Designers from all over the world will also be converging on Port Hercules to display their most inspirational creations, so read on the discover the top yacht concepts not to miss at the Monaco Yacht Show 2016.

Venerable Dutch yard Royal Huisman will be exhibiting new plans for a 65 metre version of its Dart motor yacht concept at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. Developed in collaboration with Winch Design and Azure Naval Architects, the Dart 65 features an exterior design that is inspired by the marine world, with the raked radar arch styled to resemble a whale’s tail.

Key features on-board include an aft-deck swimming pool and a foredeck Jacuzzi. Power would come from a pair of 1,957hp MTU 16V2000 M72 engines for a top speed of 17.5 knots and a maximum cruising range of 4,000 nautical miles at 14 knots.

Dahm Classic

Developed in response to a client request, the Dahm Classic is a 53 metre sailing yacht concept fresh from the boards of Beiderbeck Designs. Wide overhangs fore and aft add to the classic aesthetic, while the huge deck saloon offers 360-degree views out to sea.

Dahm International plans to fit this cruiser/racer with a cinema room and accommodation for ten guests and six crew. Working in partnership with Dutch yard Nedship, Dahm International adds that a buyer could expect delivery of this composite sailing yacht in less than two years.

Ascendance

Designed by Andy Waugh Yacht Design in collaboration with Y.CO, Ascendance is a new 111 metre superyacht concept based on the custom-built Nobiskrug platform.

Her sleek and striking exterior reflects a highly innovative interior by MYDco, which will include full-beam lounges linked by a spectacular superyacht staircase. Accommodation is split across eight guest cabins on the main deck, with the upper deck dedicated to the owner. Other key features include a superyacht cinema, gym and a beach club measuring 180 metres squared that features a tropical fish tank.

NinetyTwo

Chinese yard Pride Mega Yachts will be exhibiting its latest plans for a 92 metre yacht. Best known for the 88 metre multihull superyacht Asean Lady, Pride will have an even larger design at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.

As yet the exact details of NinetyTwo are few and far between, but this sleek design gives us a good idea of direction the yard is heading in with the gently curved transom complimenting the smooth flowing lines of the superstructure.

Project Moonstone

Chameleon superyacht Project Moonstone will also be lighting up the Monaco Yacht Show. This dazzling concept by Dutch studio Van Geest Design is built on the proven 90 metre Oceanco platform, but it is the illuminated superstructure by Temeloy Advanced Lighting Design that will really turn heads.

Project Moonstone can blend into the horizon with 600 backlit panels capable of reflecting the environment, such as a twinkling cityscape, a stunning sunset or a spectacular starry night.

NL 233

First revealed in July 2016, NL 233 is a 66 metre superyacht concept by Italian studio Nuvolari Lenard. Developed in collaboration with Azure Naval Architects for Turkish yard Turquoise Yachts, this striking new design is one of two concepts that will be part of a 3D animation exhibition by Plus New Media.

Aysecan Karabeyoglu Zorlu of Turquoise Yachts said: “We have found the use of 3D animation a great addition to our media mix, allowing us to effectively position our new designs.”

F60

Italian design duo Marco Ferrari and Alberto Franchi will be displaying their F60 superyacht concept at Monaco this year. Featuring a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure, F60 would feature a total internal volume of 1,000 gross tonnes.

Key features on board include a superyacht helipad on the upper deck, a foredeck spa pool and an aft-deck infinity pool. First revealed in June 2016, F60 has been designed to deliver a fast cruising speed of 18 knots.

Barracuda 50m concept

Billed as a “pocket explorer”, this new concept from Spanish naval architects Barracuda Yacht Design measures 50 metres LOA. Would-be explorers will surely be drawn to the exploration deck, which provides storage space for a sailing yacht, submersible, tender and off-road car, while the upper deck features a superyacht helipad.

Further details are being kept under wraps for now, but visitors to the Monaco Yacht Show can learn more by heading to Stand DG2, where Barracuda Yacht Design will be screening the following time-lapse video of the creation of this explorer yacht concept.

Endurance 50

A 49.9 metre concept from Rossinavi, Endurance 50 is for sale and the plans will be displayed at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show. This all-aluminium superyacht features naval architecture by Studio Arrabito, exterior styling is by Enrico Gobbi at Team For Design and the yacht's total interior volume is just shy of 500 gross tonnes.

Interior design is courtesy of Achille Salvagni Architetti with accommodation for 10 guests split across five staterooms, while the crew quarters are suitable for a staff of up to 10. The Italian yard plans to fit Endurance 50 with twin Caterpillar C32-LS engines for a top speed of 16 knots and a maximum cruising range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, drawing on a total fuel capacity of 76,400 litres.

Listed with Ocean Independence and available for delivery within 26 months, Endurance 50 is asking €27,500,000.

Arcana

A scale model of the new 38 metre concept from French yard JFA Yachts, Arcana will be exhibited at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show. Developed in collaboration with Hansen Marine Exploration and Horacio Bozzo of Axis Group Yacht Design, this rugged design will be propelled by a diesel-electric powertrain for a top speed of 13 knots and a maximum cruising range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Gaël Douguet, assistant manager at JFA Yachts, told Boat International: “The Arcana concept means the exploration of remote, pristine or sensitive marine areas by means of an eco-friendly, seaworthy long range worldwide cruising motor yacht.”

In keeping with the exploration theme, Arcana will be able to launch a three-person submersible dive vessel.
