Acting as a bridge between the open design of the wallytender43 and wallytender48 and the expanded spaces offered by the wallypower58, the latest wallypower50 offers everything you need for a cosy getaway. Hannah Rankine steps on board to discover why…

Wally is always looking for ways in which it can refine its models to better align with clients’ evolving needs. The 14.6-metre wallypower50 exemplifies this, merging the much-loved features of the smaller wallypower48 and the larger wallypower58 into a happy medium.

Versatility is at the heart of its design, able to fulfil the role of a standalone family cruiser, or a chase boat or tender supporting a larger yacht or fleet. Think discovering secluded coves on a day excursion or, for more practical use, scouting unknown passages before heading in with the mothership. With its flexibility and range of customisation features, the wallypower50 can be whatever the owner wants it to be.

Upon stepping on board, you’re immediately struck by the signature Wally design elements that define the brand: clean exterior lines penned by the Wally design team, a double chine hull, flush decks and expansive planar surfaces. The wallypower50 also offers the option of a wraparound fender, reminiscent of the wallytender models.

The boat's low profile brings you closer to the water, making it easier to enjoy swimming and access tenders and toys. For added convenience, a tender can be stored on the transom, while side-openable wings extend the aft deck by an additional six square metres. A new layout builds on previous models with two sunpads on the aft deck, separated by a gap to provide better access and more freedom to move around. For those seeking extra privacy, additional secluded sunpads are located on the bow.

Moving forward into the cockpit, you are greeted with Wally’s signature angular design, highlighted by the distinctive glass-and-carbon dome. The cockpit's modular seating arrangement is designed for flexibility, comfortably accommodating up to eight guests for dining, with additional seating for four more on forward-facing bench seats. The carbon fibre table can be extended to suit different party sizes. The sporty helm seats are a standout feature, made from carbon fibre for both weight reduction and aesthetics.

Below deck, the sporty interior is courtesy of Italian design studio IDEAEITALIA, featuring an inviting double bed, a large couch, and a bathroom with a separate shower – the perfect weekend pied-à-terre. There is plenty of natural light through the windows above, while the optional addition of Wally's innovative "Magic Portholes" enhances the experience. Instead of traditional hull openings that can disrupt the clean lines on the exterior of the boat, this design eliminates them entirely. Instead, gimbal-stabilised 4K cameras are mounted on each side of the boat, capturing real-time outdoor imagery. This footage is projected onto screens on the port and starboard sides, providing realistic views of the outside world without compromising the boat’s streamlined appearance.

The shipyard has reported successful sea trials, with a propulsion system that features twin Volvo Penta IPS650s, allowing the wallypower50 to exceed 36 knots and cruise comfortably at 30 knots. The joystick handling system, paired with an optional Dynamic Positioning System (DPS), allows for easier manoeuvring in tight spaces, while the deep-V hull ensures efficient and stable cruising.

For those seeking even more power, the wallypower50 is also available in the X version, equipped with quad 400hp Mercury outboards. This configuration delivers an exhilarating ride at 48 knots, with a range of 240 nautical miles. For maximum speed, the optional Mercury 500hp engines push the wallypower50X to over 50 knots, while maintaining a range of 180 nautical miles.
