Central Yacht
History
Superyacht designers Central Yacht developed in a somewhat unconventional way as a collaboration between Paul Brackley – a highly experienced yacht captain – and Brett Mitchell, who has a background in electrical and electronic engineering and considerable experience as fleet engineer for a fishing company in Italy. Brackley counts 25 years experience in superyachting and is also a self-taught designer with advanced CAD skills, and with the addition of Andrea Manco – a naval architect and yacht interior designer who worked for yacht designer Francois Zuretti – the team present an innovative approach to superyacht design based on practical experience from the sharp end of yachting.
As a result, the Central Yacht design offering extends not only to luxury interior design, but also interior space planning, exterior layout and comprehensive consideration to superyacht engineering.
Notable yachts
Central Yacht project managed the build of Sir Thomas Stanley’s 60 metre Benetti Xanadu, and following this provided to 65 metre Benetti superyacht Ambrosia III technical and conceptual analysis, and hydrodynamics and engineering research and verification, among other aspects. Paul Brackley has subsequently captained Ambrosia III, but returned to Italy to undertake Central Yacht’s most involved project yet, 56 metre Lady Candy which included exterior styling, interior design and space planning, and build management.
Specialisations
Alongside yacht interior design and exterior styling, Central Yacht can also undertake several aspects of a superyacht build from naval architecture to comprehensive evaluation of the yacht’s engineering and systems as well as project and build management.
