Art-Line
History
Superyacht designers Art-Line Interiors started in yachting almost by accident. Founders Marilyn de Vaal and Frank Pieterse graduated from the Art Academy of Utrecht in The Netherlands intending originally to focus on architectural design. But after styling their first motor yacht, they were approached to design the seminal, record-breaking Heesen superyachts Octupussy and Moonraker and from there Art-Line’s reputation for superyacht interiors – particularly those within complex technical structures – grew exponentially.
De Vaal and Pieterse’s background in contemporary art, architecture and design shapes their philosophy of creating ‘the ideal balance between function and emotion’.
Notable yachts
Amidst an extensive portfolio, notable Art-Line superyacht interiors include serial owner John Staluppi’s original speed record-holders_Octopussy_ and Moonraker, built in 1988 and 1992 respectively by Heesen with the former being subject of a bet between Staluppi and builder Frans Heesen. Art-Line also designed the interior of Lürssen 59.4 metre Viva La Vie and the award-winning E&E built by Cizgi Yacht in Turkey.
