German yacht builder YYachts has announced its expansion into Scandinavia and the Baltic region with Magnus Lundgren, based in Sweden, appointed as sales director.
In a statement released by the yard, the company noted Lundgren's passion for sailing and technical understanding of yachts as a key factor.
"In 1992, [Lundgren] was ranked number one in the world and finished 10th at the Olympics in Barcelona, where he started for Sweden helming the 470," said a YYachts spokesperson. "He also used his MBA for sailing and gained extensive experience over the past 26 years working for Hallberg-Rassy, Najad and lately in sales for Arcona Yachts."
Lundgren added: "Throughout my career, cruises with my family and friends have always been a passion and a source of energy for me."
On his plans after joining the team, Lundgren explained: "I look forward to meeting our new and old customers and making the most of their dreams when it comes to sailing with the amazing models from YYachts. My ambition will be to make YYachts a recognised brand in this part of the world and to sell these wonderful yachts."
YYachts aims to convey its "keep it simple" philosophy to customers by combining Lundgren's sailing experience with its technical understanding of highly complex sailing yachts.
