A HOME THAT'S BOTH THE JOURNEY AND THE DESTINATION
Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands Expedition
January 2024 begins with The World in expedition mode heading to the majestic landscapes of Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands. With the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rugged natural beauty of this remote region, Tom Wolber, CEO of The World, Residences at Sea, describes this as a "favourite destination" among residents with its dramatic icescapes and diverse wildlife. The yacht will then continue south to the dynamic South American countries of Argentina and Uruguay, before celebrating Carnival in the vibrant Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Africa and the Indian Ocean
In March, The World traces the eastern coast of Africa, presenting travellers with a rich tapestry of cultural traditions in countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and South Africa. Providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to encounter some of the world's most spectacular destinations, The World offers residents unique Overland Journeys to travel and explore inland throughout its voyage.
Among the extraordinary 2024 Overland Journeys are five- to six-night bespoke, guided tours of the Serengeti and Rwanda. Witness abundant wildlife and breathtaking landscapes in the Serengeti's vast plains and the Volcanoes National Park's forested slopes, both World Heritage Sites known for their diverse habitats and endangered species. Another remarkable option is the Maasai Mara and Giraffe Manor experience.
In the Maasai Mara National Reserve, residents will interact with magnificent elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions, cheetahs and more. The reserve also shelters endangered black rhinos and a wealth of bird species. Additionally, enjoy unforgettable encounters with giraffes and orphaned baby elephants during a one-night stay at Giraffe Manor, complemented by a visit to nearby Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Bespoke destination experiences ensure cherished memories for The World's residents that go beyond the ordinary.

Southeast Asia
Crossing the Indian Ocean in April, the ship will visit the idyllic ports of the Seychelles, Maldives and Sri Lanka. Continuing its Southeast Asian adventure, The World will then navigate through India, Mayanmar, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Residents will be immersed in the timeless traditions of these countries, enjoy diverse culinary experiences and explore the dynamic urban centres.
The journey also includes visits to Cambodia and Vietnam before sailing to the cosmopolitan cities of Hong Kong and Shanghai and the fashion-forward Seoul. Afterwards, in Japan, residents will experience an enriching immersion in historic Nagasaki, cosmopolitan Kobe and dazzling Tokyo. To end this leg of the programme, the shores of Taiwan, the Philippines and Indonesia await exploration, offering a blend of culture, natural beauty and hospitality.
The Kimberley Expedition
In August, The World will venture into Australia's spectacular Kimberley region, the country's final frontier known for its breathtaking landscapes, rugged gorges and ancient rock art. “The Kimberley of northwest Australia is best explored by sea where during this expedition we will discover its natural beauty and caves of ancient paintings tens of thousands of years old,” explains Wolber.
Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands Expedition
The World will take residents on a deep exploration of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. These volcanic islands, surrounded by lush mountains and teeming with vibrant marine life, offer a glimpse into some of the most remote and pristine corners of the planet.
“During our final expedition to Melanesia’s Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, residents will experience ancient cultures and sacred rituals firsthand among the native peoples and will enjoy some of the best hiking, diving and snorkelling on the planet,” adds Wolber.
Australia and New Zealand
October and November will present an opportunity to explore cosmopolitan Brisbane and Sydney before setting sail for three weeks of yachting around the picturesque South and North Islands of New Zealand. From the geothermal wonders of Rotorua to the majestic fjords of Milford Sound, residents will be captivated by the country's diverse landscapes and Maori culture.

South Pacific and Hawaiian Islands
The World will then sail into the dreamscapes of the South Pacific, visiting pristine uninhabited islands before reaching the vibrant Hawaiian destinations of Kailua-Kona, Oahu and Kauai in early December. These tropical havens provide the perfect setting for relaxation and exploration.
New Year in Mexico
As the year draws to a close, The World will continue eastward, landing in Mexico's alluring west coast destinations of Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and La Paz. Finally, residents will ring in the New Year in the enchanting setting of Cabo San Lucas.s.
“The World’s 2024 journey is possibly the most ambitious in our sailing history,” says Wolber. “It’s peppered with unique ports of call, seldom visited by passenger ships, like Mozambique Island and Redang Island, Malaysia. We are thrilled to call on one of the most remote locations on Earth, the Tristan da Cunha archipelago, a volcanic island and hotspot of endemic biodiversity that sits in the remote waters of the South Atlantic, as well as the East African country of Tanzania, home of Mount Kilimanjaro and known for its wildlife-rich national parks and cultural diversity.”
Exclusive invitation to experience The World for yourself
This September and October, The World will call upon several ports along the East Coast of Canada and the United States, offering qualified prospective owners the option of a private showing of the ship in Montreal, Quebec, Boston, New York and Miami.
