Whether it’s a superyacht launch ceremony, corporate event or even an onboard wedding or celebration, it’s safe to say the yachting industry knows how to put on a good party. The Collective is a newly launched luxury entertainment service comprising a talented group of musicians who create bespoke bands and ensembles – bringing world-class performances to high-profile events across the globe.
Although The Collective officially launched in November 2024, the people behind it are no strangers to the yachting world. If you attended the BOAT International party during the Monaco Yacht Show 2024 or the Barcelona Golf Invitational presented by BOAT and Voly Group, you might have experienced the magic of Noir – The Collective’s flagship band. Meanwhile, guests of the exclusive Owners’ Club party on board the 73.2-metre yacht Planet Nine were treated to an atmospheric solo performance by Mike Dignam.
It was Dignam’s extensive industry experience and lifelong passion for music that led to the creation of The Collective. Beginning his career as a solo artist with global tours under his belt, Dignam later transitioned into the events industry, where he identified a need for an all-encompassing entertainment solution. “I’ve been in the industry for many years, and creating my own brand felt like a natural progression,” Dignam explains. “I saw a clear gap in the market for the vision I had - both in what we offer and how we present it. While The Collective is a new company, the talent and expertise behind it have been established for years.”
While Noir serves as the flagship band, The Collective features a diverse roster of artists and ensembles tailored to elevate any event’s atmosphere. For instance, La Vie is an acoustic roaming band guaranteed to get guests on their feet, while Amora brings vibrant energy as a dynamic female solo artist. The Collective Choir combines the soulful power of a choir with the electrifying energy of a live band, and Serenity Strings reimagines a traditional string quartet with an atmospheric RnB or house twist. And the list is growing.
The concept behind The Collective is simple: clients can rely on a single brand to deliver a diverse portfolio of world-class artists for any luxury event, anywhere in the world. This unified approach ensures consistency and peace of mind for clients, with every performance meeting the same exceptional standard. “For example, we could bring a team of seven or eight artists,” says Dignam. “Early in the event, two of us might perform as an acoustic duo, followed by a DJ set, then the full band takes the stage. Later, the band’s keyboardist, who also plays saxophone, could join in for a dynamic late-night set. It’s a seamless, day-to-night entertainment solution designed to elevate the entire experience from start to finish.”
Dignam’s meticulous selection process ensures only the most exceptional talent with the right image is chosen, aligning perfectly with the expectations of ultra-high-net-worth individuals. “Our focus is on curating artists of the highest calibre - it’s designed exclusively for the luxury market,” he says. This rigorous vetting process gives clients confidence in the quality and professionalism of every performance. Additionally, The Collective understands the importance of discretion, ensuring privacy by working under NDAs for exclusive events.
Headquartered in the northwest of England, The Collective was created to “bridge the gap between raw talent and high-profile global events”, according to Dignam. “I come across incredibly talented individuals all the time who may lack the network or wherewithal to break into the luxury events scene,” he explains. “This industry can feel like a series of closed doors - someone from Manchester who’s a phenomenal singer might have no idea how to land a performance at an exclusive event in Monaco. My goal is to open those doors and connect exceptional talent with the world’s most prestigious occasions.
“My vision is to establish The Collective as a globally recognised brand, with offices in key regions around the world, scouting local talent to create a truly international entertainment solution,” he adds. “The idea is to offer clients a fully bespoke experience. They tell me about their event, and together we design tailor-made entertainment that leaves guests in awe. It’s never a one-size-fits-all approach - it’s about collaboration and customisation.”
