As the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) 2024 approaches, the global superyacht industry is gearing up to descend on Florida’s premier superyacht destination for a celebration of all things boating. Amongst the standout superyachts this year is a unit in the award-winning Maiora 36 Exuma series, which follows on the success of Pesa II that won in its category at the World Superyacht Awards and claimed Best Interior Design at the Design & Innovation Awards earlier this year. Reflecting over 50 years of building quality fibreglass cruisers, Maiora’s Exuma line is designed to meet the demands of owners who embrace an outdoor lifestyle. Since the series' launch, the shipyard has sold and delivered four units between 2020 and 2024. BOAT takes a closer look…

Versatile onboard spaces

At 36.9 metres, the Maiora 36 Exuma showcases the shipyard’s in-house design expertise, featuring a composite hull and superstructure with a trendy plumb bow. Boasting 300GT of interior volume, the designers incorporated the widest possible beam of 7.9 metres, resulting in expansive interior spaces.

Accommodations include 10 guests across five cabins, with a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck and a second owner’s cabin along with three additional guest cabins on the lower deck. Crew quarters can house up to five, and the yacht is equipped with advanced soundproofing technology for a peaceful onboard experience.

The interior is designed to be airy and light, enhanced by 655 square metres of glass throughout. Versatility is central to the design of its living spaces, with a climate-controlled skylounge on the flybridge, which can transform into an open area with the help of an "infinity" sliding door, lowerable windows and a retractable moonroof. The space can also be fully enclosed during colder weather for comfort.

Customisation is also a key feature, with every detail - from the colours and fabrics to the layout - tailored to the owner’s preferences. For example, the beach club offers two layout options: a fully equipped beach area at sea level or a stern enclosed by a wide infinity staircase leading to the spacious tender and toy garage.

Sporty and efficient

The range leverages AB Yacht's (the other brand of Next Yacht Group) 30 years of experience in advanced water jet propulsion. This technology provides numerous benefits, including higher speeds, a wider range of cruising modes, enhanced efficiency and reduced emissions and fuel consumption. Owners can choose between two engine options: three 2000hp or three 2600hp MAN engines, delivering an impressive top speed of 35 knots or 40+ and a range of 650 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 20 knots.

The yacht offers a smooth ride with no vibrations, thanks to its shallow draught of 1.4 metres, which allows for exceptional manoeuvrability, even in shallow waters. It also features an automated longitudinal and lateral trim control system for optimal performance and two Seakeeper 40 stabilisers to reduce roll.

The shipyard has announced that it is developing both smaller and larger models to expand its Exuma range.
