Hanifaru Bay
A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve famous for its manta rays and whale sharks
Begin your adventure with a 30-minute seaplane flight or half-day cruise from Malé to Hanifaru Bay in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO biosphere reserve in the northern Maldives. Known locally as Vanhumaafaru Adi, Hanifaru Bay is an uninhabited island with an enclosed underwater bay, which is a vital feeding and breeding ground for manta rays and whale sharks. The bay regularly sees some of the largest gatherings of manta rays worldwide and snorkelling here is an unmissable experience.
Goidhoo
Lush tropical forests, freshwater lakes and powder white sands
Cruise to the beautiful island of Goidhoo and follow the trails to the island’s freshwater lakes, which sit amongst lush tropical forests of palms and rubber plants. Further along the coast, enormous hermit crabs, some reaching a mammoth 40 centimetres, can be seen trundling along the white sand. Goidhoo reef is rich in marine life, and whale sharks, turtles, rays and dolphins are common encounters here. Spend an afternoon kite surfing along the reef or kayaking to deserted islands.
Innafushi
Relax on this uninhabited paradise island
Travelling west from Goidhoo you’ll reach Innafushi, a small and completely deserted island. Innafushi is within the UNESCO biosphere reserve and the abundant marine life in these protected waters make it the ultimate snorkelling safari. Relax on the powder white sands or take a romantic stroll around the island’s paradise perimeter.
Hithaadhoo
The third largest island in Baa Atoll, known for big game fishing
Being the third largest island within the Baa Atoll and the capital of Addu Atoll, Hithaadhoo is well renowned for its big game fishing. Take the opportunity to go on a sport-fishing excursion and try your hand at casting a line. Catches in the area have included groupers, bluefin, snapper and shark.

A historical island in the northern part of the Baa Atoll
Famed for its historical and Islamic cultural significance, Kendhoo is a small island in the northern part of the Baa Atoll. Spend the day snorkelling or scuba diving with turtles and other colourful marine life. If you prefer to stay ashore, take the opportunity to practise some yoga in this pristine setting.
