Nestled in the picturesque city of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Burger Boat Company has been specialising in the construction and design of yachts up to 60 metres LOA, in aluminium or steel, for over 160 years. The shipyard’s talented team also prides itself in offering custom furniture, as well as refit and repair services. One of the oldest shipyards in America, Burger boasts a rich heritage that resonates globally for its commitment to design, quality, construction, seaworthiness and reliability. Collaborating with in-house designers, engineers, and acclaimed talents from around the world, the shipyard places a premium on personalised service, working intimately with each client to bring their ideal yacht to life through a collaborative process.
A testament to this commitment is the 55-metre Burger 180’ Motor Yacht. Currently under construction, this motor yacht encapsulates Burger's legacy. As the shipyard enters its 161st year, BOAT delves into the yacht’s stand-out distinctive features.
Four luxurious decks
The Burger 180' Motor Yacht features four elegant decks, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces. The expansive aft deck, connecting to the main saloon, sets the stage for luxurious gatherings, whilst the yacht’s large tender bay houses an 11-metre tender for exploration. Large windows flood the main saloon with natural light, creating an open and inviting atmosphere. Moving up, the bridge deck offers an ideal space for entertaining, complete with a sky lounge, bar and outdoor dining area. The sundeck is the ultimate relaxation zone, boasting a bar and a generously sized pool that can be partitioned into a pool and hot tub. A unique and innovative touch is the outdoor gym, cleverly designed to stow away when not in use, allowing owners and guests to keep up their fitness regimes as and when they please.
Flexible arrangement
The Burger 180' Motor Yacht offers options for personalisation when it comes to the accommodation setup. Accommodation for up to 10 guests in four staterooms showcases large windows that frame scenic views. The lower deck staterooms can be easily converted into two sets of family suites, offering adaptability to meet the unique needs of each guest. The forward main deck owner's suite, stretching the full 9.1-metre beam, comes with an adjoining private office.
Mechanical firsts in yachting
Setting new standards in mechanical innovation, the Burger 180' Motor Yacht incorporates groundbreaking features. The electrical generation system ensures ample power in all situations, whilst the Naiad Dynamics four-fin, zero-speed stabilisation system guarantees maximum comfort at sea. The inclusion of Naiad's Total Ride Control® system, featuring integral trim tabs and a hydraulically actuated bow-positioned t-foil, significantly reduces vessel pitch, enhancing comfort during navigation.
Environment in mind
Burger takes an environmentally friendly approach with the Burger 180' Motor Yacht. The modular power generation system, consisting of nine compact 40kW Kohler generators, establishes a benchmark in performance, efficiency and reliability. The intelligent energy management system optimises power generation in real-time, promoting fuel efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with modern expectations of responsible yachting.
Crew comfort
Acknowledging the importance of crew comfort, the Burger 180' Motor Yacht offers accommodations for up to 13 crew members. Unique to a yacht of this size, private staterooms are provided for key crew members, including the captain, chief officer, chief engineer, chief stewardess and chef. The crew mess is bathed in natural light, offering a relaxing area for rest and rejuvenation when off shift. The meticulously designed galley, equipped with a walk-in refrigerator, walk-in freezer, walk-in pantry and direct access to the sky lounge service pantry, ensures seamless operations during long-range cruising.
A testament to the resounding success of the Burger 180' Motor Yacht, a second hull is currently in construction and available for sale. Burger is also excited to be working on the new 43-metre Burger Atrium 142’ Motor Yacht in collaboration with the renowned Evan K. Marshall design studio.
