When cruising in St Barths, there’s one place you need to see. In the scenic port town of Gustavia lies the brand-new Ocean Club St Barths; a one-of-a-kind establishment welcoming the ocean-loving community and residents of St Barths. Located within the Prada and Dolce & Gabbana building on Gustavia’s main street, the club offers five-star services and clear views over the marina and the neighbouring Gustavia Yacht Club.
One of the unmissable experiences within the Ocean Club St Barths is the fine dining restaurant co-founded by the in-house chef Jarad McCarroll. Having previously worked at The Ritz London, Restaurant Ours and Le Toiny Hotel, Jarad has earned prestigious awards such as 2020 Chef of the Year in St Barths. His bespoke gastronomy can be experienced at its best through his five-course tasting menu created especially for Ocean Club St Barths.
Starting with ikejime red snapper tartar flavoured with horseradish and dill, the menu focuses on freshly-sourced ingredients and new flavours. The chef’s signature dishes are called The Tree of Life and Our Island and present perfectly-matched vegetables in a vibrant and artistic way.
With turbot served with caviar and champagne, and wagyu tenderloin from Snake River Farms also on the menu, every guest can find an unforgettable dish to suit their taste. All dietary requirements can be catered to at the Ocean Club St Barths restaurant, and the five-star waiters and waitresses can place customised orders to suit.
After or in between mealtimes, the restaurant serves award-winning pastries and desserts by the club’s head pastry chef Simon Pacary. Featured in the 2021 Michelin Guide, Simon has been among the top six Best French Pastry Chef of the Year and is available exclusively for guests of Ocean Club St Barths.
Any visit to the club isn’t complete without a drink to complement the setting. The team at Ocean Club St Barths are proud of its selections of exquisite wines which can be enjoyed alone or as the perfect pairing to a meal. There are also a vast variety of spirits and cocktails, teas, coffees and soft beverages.
Watching the sun go down while listening to the restaurant’s DJ in the background is the ideal way to end the day – especially as every table gives diners incredible views over Port de Gustavia. Moving further inside the club, there’s an art gallery and lounge that is home to a selection of world-class artworks curated by famed art dealer and partner Fergus McCaffrey. The current exhibition showcases the illustrious art history of St Barths and how artists such as Cy Twombly and Eric Fischl were inspired by the island.
The club can provide unique private dining bookings for up to 30 guests as well as custom-planned events such as sit-down dinners and cocktail receptions. Any event held at Ocean Club St Barths makes the most of the club’s well-curated spaces. A perfect example of a bespoke event held at the club is the recent BOAT International 2023 St Barths Sunset Cocktail Event.
