Three yachts gutted by fire in Italy

An investigation is underway after a fire at Porto Carlo Riva Marina, Rapallo, Italy, gutted three superyachts on Saturday 18 January, 2014.

A spokesperson from the marina confirmed that a fire broke out on a 18-metre Baglietto motoryacht at around 3pm local time. Before the marina fire service, local fire brigade and coast guard could control the blaze, it had spread to two neighbouring yachts. A Ferretti 830,Kikka and another vessel named Samura have also been gutted in the blaze.

The spokesperson also confirmed that as yet the cause of the blaze is unknown and is currently under investigation.
