After two and a half years of development, the Swedish builder Delta Powerboats has recently completed sea trials of its new flagship motor yacht, the Delta 88 IPS.
The Delta 88 IPS motor yacht has a length of 26.3m, making her one of the largest yachts built in Sweden. Designed by Lars Modin, her sporty lines remind us her smaller sisters and make her immediately recognizable. Entirely built in carbon, her total weight is only 40 tons.
The interior is modern. The main deck is an open space saloon, dining area, galley and wheelhouse. The lower deck accommodates eight guests in four cabins, including a full-beam master, a VIP forward and two twins.
Powered by triple Volvo Penta IPS 1200 engines, she easily achieved a top speed of 37 knots during her sea trials between Stockholm and Estonia, with a fuel consumption 30 per cent less than her competitors. Shown in the video of her cruising (below), her performance in a one-metre swell is impressive. The cruising speed is done at 20 knots, with a consumption of 8.5 litres per nautical miles.
The first Delta 88 IPS is now ready to be delivered, and Delta Powerboats has already started the production of the second hull to be launched in 2014.
