The 55.75 metre explorer yacht Alucia, listed for sale by Stuart Larsen at Fraser in Fort Lauderdale, has had a price reduction of $2,250,000.
All custom superyachts are by their very nature unique, but Alucia is something else again. She was originally built in steel by the French Auroux yard in 1974 as the support ship for the French research submersible Nautile. In 2016 she was completely stripped, rebuilt, rewired and re-equipped, while a thorough reworking of her superstructure gave her a new submersible hangar, a sundeck and a helicopter pad.
She is the only vessel in the world to carry three deep-diving manned submersibles and this, in conjunction with her decompression chamber, mixed-gas dive support, powerful sonar and tenders, make her one of the most sophisticated sub-sea exploration platforms ever built.
The interior of this yacht for sale has been fitted out to superyacht standards and accommodates up to 20 guests in a master, double and four twins plus four Pullman berths. Her top speed is 12 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 6,000 nautical miles at 11 knots with power coming from twin 1,600hp Cummins KTA50M2 diesel engines.
Her broker, Stuart Larsen, comments: “One of the world's most proven research yachts, featured on such TV shows as Blue Planet II, among many others, Alucia has seen over 2,000 dives under her current ownership."
Alucia is now asking $17,500,000.
